Mendocino Coast Science (MCS) is a non-profit organization located in Fort Bragg, California. Established in 1994, the mission of MCS is to promote the conservation of the unique natural and cultural resources of the Mendocino Coast. To this end, MCS works to improve the knowledge and understanding of the ecology and history of the Mendocino Coast through a variety of education and research programs.

MCS is a leader in the field of coastal research and education, providing high quality scientific inquiry, research, education and policy analysis related to coastal resource management. The organization works closely with local, state, and federal agencies and organizations to develop and implement innovative coastal research projects. MCS also provides educational programs for students and teachers, and participates in community events to increase awareness of the importance of coastal resources.

MCS’s work is supported by grants, donations, and membership fees. The organization is run by a volunteer board of directors and staff, and is supported by a wide variety of volunteers who contribute their time and expertise. MCS is committed to providing the highest quality of science-based information and education about the Mendocino Coast, and strives to ensure the conservation of its unique resources for generations to come.
