The Franklin County Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization based in Mount Vernon, Texas. It was founded in 1981 with the aim of preserving and promoting the history and genealogy of Franklin County and its surrounding areas. The society is run by a board of directors and has a membership of over 200 individuals from across the United States.

The society maintains a research library which houses a vast collection of genealogical and historical materials including books, maps, newspapers, and photographs. The library is open to the public and staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who are available to assist visitors with their research needs.
