Fair Park – Centennial Building (Dallas, Texas) Historic 1936 Confederate States Statue in front of the Centennial Building at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. The building was originally constructed as the Exposition Building (or Exhibition Building) in a Spanish Romanesque style in 1905. It was enlarged and remodeled in an Art Deco style in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition and named the Transportation Building (or Hall of Transportation). An extension was called the Chrysler Building. Three porticos were added, providing places for statues and cement fresco murals. The building is now called the Centennial Building.

The Esplanade has six statues of women (Six Ladies of Fair Park) along the Esplanade representing the six flags of Texas. The three statues in front of the Centennial Building represent Spain, the Confederacy and Texas. The three in front of the Automobile Building represent France, Mexico and United States.

Fair Park has been the location of the State Fair of Texas since the 1880's. The park was reconstructed by local architect George Dahl in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition and represents one of the largest surviving collection of Art Deco style structures in the United States.

Fair Park was designated as Texas State Antiquities Landmark in 1984. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986 (NRHP District No. 86003488 as the Fair Park Texas Centennial Buildings (1936-1937)). Fair Park was also designated as a Dallas Landmark Historic District in 1987.
