The Arcata & Mad River Railroad Historical Society was founded in 2000 and is dedicated to preserving the history of the Arcata & Mad River Railroad (AMRR). The AMRR was a narrow gauge railway that ran through Humboldt County, California, from 1885 to 1985. The Society is a non-profit organization with a mission to preserve and interpret the history and artifacts of the AMRR.
The Society maintains a museum in Arcata, California, which houses artifacts, photographs, and documents related to the history of the railroad. The museum also serves as an educational center, hosting lectures, seminars, and other events related to the railroad's history.
