The Ranching Heritage Association (RHA) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and culture of ranching in the American West. Located in Lubbock, Texas, the RHA is situated on the campus of Texas Tech University and is home to the National Ranching Heritage Center, a museum that showcases the history of ranching in America.
The RHA was founded in 1969 by a group of ranching families who were concerned about the loss of the ranching way of life and the disappearing artifacts and stories that went with it. Today, the RHA has over 1,500 members and is supported by the ranching community, as well as individuals and businesses who share a passion for preserving the heritage of the American West.
The National Ranching Heritage Center, which is housed on the RHA campus, features over 50 authentic ranching structures that have been restored and preserved. These structures include barns, windmills, and houses from various eras in American history, and offer visitors a glimpse into what life was like on the ranch. Additionally, the museum is home to an impressive collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents that help to tell the story of ranching in America.
The RHA also offers educational programming for visitors of all ages, including hands-on activities, workshops, and lectures. Through its various initiatives, the RHA is committed to ensuring that the rich history and culture of ranching in the American West is preserved for generations to come.
