Judy's 50th and Twins' 3rd Birthdays On New Years Day 2000, the twins (Natasha and David) celebrated their third birthdays. Later in January 2000, Judy would celebrate her 50th birthday. So, we decided to have a combined birthday party. We celebrated the birthdays at their home in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Old Ogletree Stagestop and Post Office (Copperas Cove, Texas) Historic Ogletree stagecoach stop and Post Office in Coryell County, Texas. Erected 1878 by Marsden Ogletree as a home, grain store, and stopping place for the Lampasas to Belton stagecoach. A post office opened here in 1879, but was relocated to the new town of Coperas Cove (later changed to Copperas Cove) after the railroad arrived. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 (NRHP No. 79002928). It was designated as a recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 2009.
Old Ogletree Stagestop and Post Office (Copperas Cove, Texas) Historical marker for the old Ogletree Stagestop and Post Office in Coryell County, Texas. The plaque states: After Marsden Ogletree (1819-1896) and his family migrated from Georgia, he recieved a land grant in 1878. Inscriptions on two stones in this house indicate the structure was erected the same year. It served as the family home, grain store, and stopping place for the Lampasas to Belton stagecoach. Since the mail arrived by stage, a post office was opened here in 1879 with Ogletree as postmaster. Legend says that the settlement received the name "Coperas Cove" from a copperas-tasting spring in the cove of a nearby mountain. Samuel Gilmore served as the second Postmaster. In 1881 Gilmore's father-in-law Jesse M. Clements (1822-1900) and his wife Charley deeded land for the right-of-way to the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad. The following year the railroad laid out the new townsite of Copperas Cove. Soon the center of the community, including the post office, moved over to the railroad. Later the town corrected the spelling of its name to "Copperas Cove." In 1891 Clements bought this house and used it as the headquarters for his large ranching operations. The old stone stagestop remains a visible link with the community's pioneer heritage.

Lampasas County Courthouse (Lampasas, Texas) Historical marker for the Lampasas County Courthouse in Lampasas, Texas. The plaque states: Lampasas County Courthouse - After the Texas Legislature created Lampasas County in 1856, official business of the county was conducted from a variety of spaces and buildings. Land for the courthouse square was set aside when the town of Lampasas was platted in the 1850s. In 1882, the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad extended their tracks to the county seat, bringing significant growth and prosperity to the area. In 1883, the Commissioners Court, with county judge W. P. Beall presiding, hired Waco architect Wesley Clark Dodson to design the new courthouse. The building contractor (Kane Brothers) and the stone contractors (T. Lovell and Company) executed Dodson's plan, completing the building in 1884. Reflecting influences of the Second Empire and Italianate styles of architecture, the Lampasas County Courthouse features a central clock tower, arched windows and a mansard roof. In 1884, the Commissioners Court authorized the city to place a Seth Thomas clock in the tower. Since its construction, the courthouse has been a focal point for city and county activities, including local festivals. Floods in 1936 and 1957 damaged the building, requiring repair and reconstruction. Today, the stately Lampasas County Courthouse remains an outstanding example of the golden era of courthouse construction in the state. It continues to serve as an important symbol of the county's growth and development and as an influence on the historic character of the county seat. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark - 1965
Lampasas County Courthouse (Lampasas, Texas) Historic Lampasas County Courthouse in Lampasas, Texas. The Second Empire style court house was completed in 1884. A Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program restoration project was completed in 2004. The courthouse was designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1965 and a State Antiquities Landmark in 1981. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 (NRHP No. 71000944). It was also a contributing resource to the Lampasas Downtown Historic District (NRHP District No. 03001540).
