The Twelve Travelers Memorial of the Southwest is a monument located in El Paso, Texas that commemorates the twelve travelers who lost their lives in a tragic accident in 1882. The travelers were on their way to the San Elizario mission when their wagon overturned, killing all twelve of them.
The memorial is composed of a large bronze sculpture of the travelers, each with their own individualized features. The sculpture is positioned atop a stone pedestal and surrounded by twelve bronze reliefs depicting the twelve travelers and their journey. The memorial also features twelve bronze plaques inscribed with the names of the twelve travelers and the date of their deaths.
The monument was designed by local artist, Monty Sibley, and erected in 1992.
