The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art is a nonprofit organization located in Houston, Texas. It was founded by a Houston mail carrier named Jeff McKissack in 1956. McKissack started building a monument to his favorite fruit, the orange, in his backyard, which eventually grew into the Orange Show complex.
The Orange Show complex is a collection of buildings, sculptures, and mosaics that showcase the creativity of visionary artists. The site covers over an acre and features a maze of tunnels, a 3-story watchtower, and a performance stage. The complex is a unique example of folk art and has been recognized as a significant cultural landmark in Houston.
Today, the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art continues to promote the work of visionary artists through exhibitions, performances, and educational programs. The organization also operates the Beer Can House, another iconic Houston landmark.
