The California State Capitol Preservation Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the California State Capitol in Sacramento, California. The Preservation Fund was founded in 1979 and is composed of a volunteer Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers. Their mission is to preserve and restore the Capitol for the benefit of all Californians, for the purpose of creating a place of pride and understanding of the state’s history and the ideals of democracy.

The Preservation Fund works to preserve and enhance the Capitol’s historic architecture and landscape, to educate the public about the Capitol’s history and significance, and to maintain the Capitol’s access for all Californians. The Preservation Fund has been responsible for the restoration of many of the Capitol’s interior and exterior features, such as the legislative chambers, the rotunda, and the grounds surrounding the Capitol. In addition, the Preservation Fund has developed programs to enhance the Capitol experience and provide educational opportunities to local schoolchildren, including the Capitol Education Center, Capitol Historian Program, and Capitol Art Program.

The Preservation Fund is funded by private donations, grants, and the Capitol Preservation Fund Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from the state government, the public, and the private sector, which provides advice and guidance to the Preservation Fund. The Preservation Fund also receives additional funding from the State of California, local governments, and corporations. The Preservation Fund works in partnership with the California State Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that the Capitol is maintained and preserved for future generations.
