The First Capitol Historical Foundation is a non-profit organization located in West Columbia, Texas. The foundation's primary focus is to preserve and promote the history of the state's first capital, which was located in West Columbia from 1836 to 1837. The foundation operates the Columbia Historical Museum, which is housed in the former 1884 First Presbyterian Church building, to showcase the rich history of the area.

The museum features exhibits that highlight the region's Native American heritage, the Texas Revolution, the Republic of Texas, and the Civil War. Visitors can explore artifacts, documents, and photographs that offer a glimpse into the lives and struggles of the area's early settlers. The foundation also manages the Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site, which is located just outside of West Columbia. This historic property was the home of the first female governor of Texas, Miriam Amanda "Ma" Ferguson, and her husband, James "Pa" Ferguson. The site features a restored plantation home, outbuildings, and gardens, as well as interpretive exhibits that explore the lives of the Fergusons and their impact on Texas history.
