The Cleveland Historical Society was founded in 1976 to preserve the history of Cleveland and Liberty County, Texas. The Society is located in the former Cleveland High School building, which was built in 1904 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The building houses a museum, which offers exhibits and educational programs on the history of the area. The Society also maintains a research library, which has an extensive collection of records, documents and family histories related to the history of Cleveland and Liberty County.
