The Huntington Genealogical and Historic Society (HGHS) is a non-profit organization based in Huntington, Texas. Established in 1998, the Society seeks to preserve and promote the history, culture and genealogy of the Huntington area. Located in the town’s former post office building, the HGHS hosts numerous events and activities throughout the year, including genealogy seminars, history lectures, and an annual genealogical research workshop.

In addition to its events, the Society also maintains an extensive research library and archive. The library is home to a variety of books, periodicals, manuscripts, photographs, and other materials related to the history and genealogy of the Huntington area. The archive consists of various records and documents, such as birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, deeds, census records, and military records. The Society also offers access to a variety of online databases, enabling researchers to access a wealth of information on their own.

The HGHS is an active member in the local community, hosting numerous events such as the annual Huntington County History Day. The Society also partners with the Huntington Public Library to provide access to its resources and services. In addition, the HGHS works closely with the Huntington Historical Museum and other local organizations to promote the preservation of the area’s history and culture.
