The California Law Enforcement Historical Society (CLEHS) is a non-profit organization located in Carmichael, California. It was formed in 1984 to preserve and promote the history of law enforcement in California and the United States. The Society promotes the history of law enforcement through its publications, lectures, exhibits and other activities. It also provides educational programs and scholarships for law enforcement officers and their families.
The Society is governed by an Executive Board composed of law enforcement professionals and members of the public. It also has a Board of Directors composed of members from a range of law enforcement organizations, such as the California Peace Officers Association, California State Sheriffs Association, California District Attorneys Association, California Police Chiefs Association, California State Park Rangers Association and California Highway Patrol.
CLEHS is devoted to preserving and promoting the history of California law enforcement. It collects, preserves, and exhibits artifacts related to the history of law enforcement, including uniforms, firearms, photographs, badges, and other memorabilia. It also maintains an extensive library of law enforcement related materials, including books, magazines, films, and videos.
The Society also offers training and educational programs for law enforcement personnel, including seminars and workshops on topics such as criminal justice, police ethics, and law enforcement history. It also offers an annual awards program to honor outstanding law enforcement personnel.
The CLEHS is a vital part of the law enforcement community in California, providing an important resource to law enforcement personnel and the public by preserving and promoting the history of law enforcement.
