The McAllen Heritage Center Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of McAllen, Texas. Located in the heart of downtown McAllen, the Heritage Center is housed in a two-story, 8,400 square foot building which was originally constructed in 1932 as a movie theater. The building was renovated and opened as the McAllen Heritage Center in 2005.

The McAllen Heritage Center hosts permanent and changing exhibits which focus on the history of the area from the pre-historic era to present day. Exhibits feature artifacts, photographs, documents, and interactive displays which highlight the evolution of the Rio Grande Valley, the railroad industry, the citrus and vegetable industry, the development of the city of McAllen, and other aspects of local history. The Heritage Center also offers educational programs and field trips for all ages.

The McAllen Heritage Center also features a research library and archives which makes available a wealth of resources for research and education. The library and archives contain thousands of documents, photographs, books, newspapers, and other items which can be viewed by the public.

The McAllen Heritage Center is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free, although donations are accepted. The Heritage Center also offers special events, programs and classes throughout the year.
