Historic Fort Stockton is a former U.S. Army post located in Fort Stockton, Texas. The fort was established in 1858 to protect travelers and settlers along the San Antonio-El Paso Road from Native American attacks. The fort was named after Robert Field Stockton, a U.S. Navy Commodore who served during the Mexican-American War.

During the Civil War, the fort was occupied by both Confederate and Union forces. After the war, the fort was used as a military outpost until it was abandoned in 1886.

Today, Historic Fort Stockton is a historic site that includes a museum and several restored buildings, including the officers' quarters, barracks, and the guardhouse. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the fort and learn about the history of the area and the role the fort played in protecting settlers and travelers.

The fort is also home to several events throughout the year, including a reenactment of the Battle of Fort Stockton, which took place in 1861. The fort is open to visitors seven days a week and offers a unique glimpse into the history of the American West.
