The Tipton-Haynes Historical Association Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in Johnson City, Tennessee. Founded in 1950, the organization is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of the area and its people. The Tipton-Haynes Historical Association works to collect and preserve artifacts, documents, photographs and other materials related to the history of the area, as well as to provide educational programs and events.
The main building of the organization is the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site, a two-story brick building that was constructed in 1826. The building serves as a museum, containing more than 8,000 artifacts and documents related to the area’s history. The facility also includes a research library, a genealogical library, a store and an auditorium.
The Tipton-Haynes Historical Association also offers a variety of educational programs, including guided tours of the museum and the historic site, as well as lectures, film screenings and other events. The Association works in partnership with other local organizations, such as schools and libraries, to provide educational opportunities for the community.
