The North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy (NCCC) is a nonprofit organization located in Hixson, Tennessee. Founded in 2007, NCCC is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the North Chickamauga Creek watershed and its surrounding areas. The watershed is made up of over 40,000 acres and includes four major tributaries.
NCCC works to restore the natural environment by eliminating non-native species, planting native plants, restoring wetlands and preserving riparian areas. The organization also works to reduce the impacts of urbanization on the watershed by educating the public about the importance of protecting the area.
The organization also provides recreational opportunities for residents and visitors by way of guided hikes, canoe trips, and other educational activities. Additionally, NCCC hosts an annual festival in the fall to celebrate the creek and its surroundings.
Through its restoration and conservation efforts, NCCC works to ensure that the North Chickamauga Creek watershed remains a healthy and vibrant part of the local community. The organization also serves as a model for other organizations in the area, providing the opportunity for other local organizations to collaborate and work together for the betterment of their local environment.
