The Heritage Alliance of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia is a non-profit organization located in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Its mission is to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the region through education, interpretation, and conservation.

The organization was founded in 1996 and has since grown to become a leading advocate for local history and preservation. It operates several historic sites in the region, including the Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum, the Jonesborough/Washington County History Museum, and the Old Jonesborough Cemetery.

In addition to managing these sites, the Heritage Alliance offers a variety of educational programs and events throughout the year, such as lectures, walking tours, and living history demonstrations. It also works closely with other local organizations and government agencies to protect and promote the area's cultural resources.

The Heritage Alliance is funded through donations, grants, and memberships, and relies on the support of volunteers to carry out its work. Its staff and board of directors are passionate about preserving the unique history and heritage of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for future generations to enjoy.

Borden Mills textile plant Borden Mills textile plant in Kingsport, TN, USA (1954). Picture made during the visit by a Belgian delegation from the Union Cotonnière. The plant was started in 1924 by the American Printing Company (Fall River, MA) with an employment of 1,200. The mill produced "gray" or unbleached cotton cloth. Sabine Hill Note: this photo was taken in 2011 when the property was endangered and not open to the public. I took this photo while a passenger in a car along highway US321. There are more trees today, making this a tougher view, but you can go visit it now. From Wikipedia: Sabine Hill, also known as Happy Valley, Watauga Point, and the General Nathaniel Taylor House, is a historic house in Elizabethton, Tennessee. The two-story Federal style building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is an excellent example of federal architecture. It was threatened by demolition in 2007 when the owners sought to have the property rezoned for apartments. The rezoning request was denied and the home was bought by several preservation-minded locals who secured it until the State of Tennessee/Tennessee Historical Commission could purchase the museum-quality property. It is now restored and opened to the public on November 1, 2017, as a unit of Sycamore Shoals State Park. The property is operated by the Park under a memorandum of understanding with the Tennessee Historical Commission.
