Older than trees, older than dirt These mountains in this part of the Appalachian Plateau began well over a billion years ago–way before there were such things as trees–to 250 million years ago (not older than trees). It is <a href="https://interestingengineering.com/science/earths-oldest-mountains-and-impact-to-planet" rel="noreferrer nofollow">one of the oldest mountain ranges</a> in the world. It looks to me that the Blue Ridge Mountains may have over-compensated in their rush for life.

The Butler Watauga Valley Heritage Association (BWVHA) is a non-profit organization located in Butler, TN. Established in 2005, its mission is to preserve the history and heritage of the Upper Watauga Valley in northeastern Tennessee. The organization works to collect, preserve, and make available to the public local history and artifacts related to the area.

BWVHA operates the Butler Museum, which is located in the old City Hall building.
