Fort Donelson National Battlefield – Texas State Monument (Dover, Tennessee) Historic Texas State Monument at the Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Dover, Tennessee.   The sunset red granite monument was erected in 1964 in memory of the Texas soldiers who fought and died at Fort Donelson in 1862 and in the 1863 Battle of Dover. This marker is one of 19 monuments placed by the State of Texas on Civil War battlefields.

The Texas Monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 as a contributing resource (No. HS-9) to the Fort Donelson National Battlefield (NRHP District No. 66000076).

The Friends of the Fort Donelson Campaign is a non-profit organization based in Dover, TN, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Fort Donelson National Battlefield.
