The National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) is a non-profit organization located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is the largest organization devoted to the development, promotion and enjoyment of the hobby of model railroading in the world.
The NMRA was founded in 1935 and is dedicated to the advancement of model railroading. It is organized into seven geographic regions, referred to as “Divisions”. The divisions are responsible for the development, promotion and enjoyment of model railroading in their respective geographic areas.
The NMRA also provides a number of services to its members, including the publication of a monthly magazine, the Model Railroader. The magazine publishes articles about the hobby, including how-to articles, reviews of products, and stories about members and their model railroad projects.
The NMRA also provides a certification program for model railroaders. This program provides a way for model railroaders to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the hobby.
The NMRA also hosts regular conventions each year. These conventions provide model railroaders from all over the world an opportunity to gather together and share their love of the hobby. During these conventions, members participate in clinics, seminars, workshops, exhibits, and contests.
