Nashville Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway Preservation Society (NC&StL) is a non-profit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1983, the organization’s mission is to preserve and protect the history of the Nashville Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway. NC&StL is dedicated to the preservation of the railroad’s structures, artifacts, archives, and stories.
The organization owns two historic railroad cars, two steam locomotives, and numerous pieces of memorabilia. The organization also works to restore, preserve, and operate these cars and locomotives. NC&StL is a member of the National Railway Historical Society and the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. The organization also works with local and state historic preservation organizations to preserve and protect their railway heritage.
The organization is active in the community, providing educational programs and opportunities to experience the history of the railroad. Every year, the organization hosts a number of events, including the annual “Train Ride” that takes visitors on a journey along the original Nashville Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway route.
The NC&StL also works to preserve the railroad’s artifacts, archives, and stories. They are currently working to digitize the railway’s records, making them available to the public. The organization also works to preserve the railroad’s infrastructure, such as bridges and trestles.
The NC&StL is dedicated to preserving the history of the Nashville Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway for the benefit of future generations. Through their efforts, the organization is helping to keep the railroads memory alive.
