DAVIES MANOR PLANTATION

Davies Manor Plantation is located in Memphis, Tennessee. It is a historic plantation house and former working farm that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The plantation was built in 1825 and is the oldest log cabin in Shelby County. It is a two-story log cabin constructed with hand-hewn logs and sits on a limestone foundation. The house has a central hallway and four rooms with two fireplaces.
The plantation was owned by Thomas Davies and his family for over 150 years and is now owned by the Shelby County Historical Commission. It is open to the public for tours and educational programs. The house is furnished with artifacts from the period when the Davies family owned the plantation. It includes furniture, quilts, and other items used by the family.
The grounds of Davies Manor Plantation include gardens, a grist mill, and a cemetery. The gardens have a variety of plants, including a wildflower garden, a butterfly garden, and a vegetable garden. The grist mill was used to grind grains and is the only known surviving mill of its type in Tennessee. The cemetery contains graves of members of the Davies family and other early settlers.
