Drayton Hall is an 18th-century plantation located on the Ashley River in Charleston, South Carolina. The main house, built in 1738, is one of the oldest surviving examples of Georgian Palladian architecture in the United States. The property has been owned by the same family for over 300 years and has never been sold or rented.

The house is constructed of brick and features a central block flanked by two wings. The interior is notable for its elaborate woodwork, including a cantilevered staircase and intricate plaster ceilings. The house is surrounded by a beautiful landscape of gardens, woods, and wetlands.

Drayton Hall is also significant for its history. The plantation was worked by enslaved people from the 1730s until the end of the Civil War. The site includes a cemetery where many of the enslaved people who lived and worked on the plantation are buried. The property was also used as a military hospital during the American Revolution and the Civil War.

Today, Drayton Hall is a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public for tours. The site offers visitors a chance to learn about the history of the plantation, as well as the lives of the enslaved people who lived and worked there.
