The United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) is a historic organization that was founded in 1894 in Nashville, Tennessee. Its mission is to preserve the memory and history of the Confederate States of America and to honor the sacrifices made by its soldiers and civilians during the Civil War. The UDC has chapters in many cities and towns throughout the United States, including one in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Charleston chapter of the UDC, known as the "Wade Hampton Chapter," was established in 1896 and is one of the oldest in the state. The chapter is named after Wade Hampton, a Confederate general and former governor of South Carolina. The UDC in Charleston has been active for over a century and has worked to promote education, historical preservation, and patriotic activities.

The UDC in Charleston has sponsored many projects over the years, including the preservation of Confederate monuments and the marking of historic sites related to the Civil War. The chapter also provides scholarships for students studying Southern history and sponsors programs to educate the public about the contributions of Confederate soldiers and civilians.
