12P/Pons–Brooks is a Halley-type periodic comet with an orbital period of 71 years. It was discovered in 1812 and later recovered during passages in 1883 and 1954. It is expected to brighten to an apparent magnitude of 4.5 (visible to the naked eye) during its upcoming passage in April 2024.

This image shows the comet during a recent outburst, releasing billions of pounds of gas and dust while brightening to an apparent magnitude of 8.8 (about 60x brighter than the predicted magnitude of 13.2). Note how the inner coma surrounding the core is much brighter than the faint outer coma.

The Berkeley Museum is a historical museum located in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The museum is housed in a beautiful two-story brick building, which was originally built in 1911 as a post office. It was later renovated and converted into a museum in 2006.

The museum features exhibits and artifacts related to the history of Berkeley County, South Carolina. The exhibits include displays on the Native American tribes that once inhabited the area, the colonial era, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. The museum also has exhibits on the agricultural and industrial history of the county, as well as displays on the history of the town of Moncks Corner.

One of the highlights of the museum is the collection of antique cars, which includes a 1917 Model T Ford and a 1931 Ford Model A. The museum also has a research library, which is open to the public and contains a wealth of information on the history of Berkeley County.

The Berkeley Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and admission is free. Guided tours are available upon request. The museum is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of the Lowcountry region of South Carolina.
