The Historic Camden Foundation (HCF) is a nonprofit organization based in Camden, South Carolina that is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Camden area. Founded in 1967, the organization works to protect, preserve, and interpret the historic resources of Camden and the surrounding area. HCF works to promote heritage tourism and educational programs, and to preserve and protect the region’s African-American, Native American, and European-American heritage.

HCF owns and operates two historic sites in Camden: Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site and the Joseph Kershaw House. The Revolutionary War Site is a recreated eighteenth-century village that was the site of a major battle of the Revolutionary War. The Kershaw House is a late nineteenth-century home that was the childhood home of prominent South Carolina politician Joseph Kershaw.

HCF has several education programs, including a summer camp program and a living history program. The summer camp allows students to learn about local history and culture through hands-on activities and field trips. The living history program brings history to life through interactive events, demonstrations, and reenactments.

HCF also hosts several annual events, including the Annual Revolutionary War Encampment, the Annual Revolutionary War Festival, and the annual Christmas in Camden event. These events attract visitors from all over the country and offer a great opportunity to learn more about Camden’s rich history.

HCF is committed to preserving the history and culture of Camden and the surrounding region. Through their educational programs, events, and preservation efforts, they are helping to ensure that the history of the Camden area is remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
