On of two barns that are known to exist in South Carolina. Both are very faded, but this one is an easy spot if you happen to be passing through. The road alignment doesn't appear changed, or is close enough to the original where this one is still an eye catcher.

From what I can tell and what I've read, Clark Beyers and crew painted these things as quick as possible, and one of the ways they did this was paint both the white lettering and black background simultaneously, instead of lettering over the background. All that to say that I think we have a ton of barns that are visible ONLY because they've faded at different rates. If they had been painted white paint over black, I wonder how many of these would be invisible.

One homeowner (not this barn) confirmed that her barn hadn't been painted in the 50 years she owned it. So many of the barns close to Chattanooga have been painted in recent-ish times, so they look more painted than these more far flung barns.
