Florence, SC - Hurricane Dorian Response We were on a cruise when Hurricane Dorian intensified. As a result, instead of going to Nassau, we went to Cozumel. Carnival Cruise Line extended the cruise for three days at no extra charge. Driving home from Port Canaveral to Virginia, we actually drove into the hurricane. Because of the strong wind and rain, we stopped in Florence, SC. We were lucky enough to find a hotel. Across from our hotel, was a staging area for utility trucks waiting to be sent to areas needing electricity restored.
