The Governor's Mansion in Columbia, South Carolina is the official residence of the Governor of the state. The mansion was built in 1855 and is a two-story Greek Revival-style residence. It is located on a 9-acre plot of land in the historic district of Columbia.
The mansion has 30 rooms, including a grand ballroom, a formal dining room, a library, and a music room. The interior of the mansion features ornate plasterwork, crystal chandeliers, and antique furniture.
The exterior of the mansion is equally impressive, with a large portico supported by six Corinthian columns. The mansion is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, which include a formal rose garden, a fountain, and a reflecting pool.
The mansion has been the residence of every governor of South Carolina since it was built, with the exception of one who refused to live in it.
