MCBeth Light Artillery in Anderson, SC is a historic Civil War cannon and monument in the city. It was erected in 1912 to honor the Confederate soldiers who fought in the Civil War. The cannon was originally used by the Confederate army in the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863. It was captured by Union forces and placed in storage until it was purchased by the citizens of Anderson in 1912.

The base of the cannon is made from granite, and it is mounted on a wooden platform. The cannon itself is a 3.2-inch Ordnance Rifle. It is made from cast iron and is 18 feet long and weighs just over 5,000 pounds. The cannon is painted black and is inscribed with the words “McBeth Light Artillery, Anderson, SC.”

The monument is located in the heart of Anderson, on the corner of Main Street and McDuffie Street, across from the Anderson County Courthouse. It is a popular stop for tourists and locals who come to learn about Anderson’s Civil War history. The monument is a reminder of the sacrifices that were made during the Civil War and is a symbol of the city’s commitment to preserving its history.
