The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, and is a contributing structure in the Newberry Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and increased to its present size in 2004. The building served as Newberry City Hall until 1993, when the city government moved to a former bank building on College Street, and the building was subsequently restored, today operating as a performing arts center and events venue.
