INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM

The International African American Museum (IAAM) is a museum located in Charleston, South Carolina, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history and culture of African Americans in the United States. The museum is currently under construction and is set to open in 2022.

The IAAM is situated on the site where enslaved Africans first arrived in Charleston, known as Gadsden's Wharf. The museum will feature exhibits that tell the story of African Americans from their African origins to the present day. The exhibits will cover topics such as slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, Jim Crow segregation, the Civil Rights Movement, and contemporary issues facing African Americans.

The IAAM will also have a genealogy center where visitors can research their family history and connect with their African roots. Additionally, the museum will have an outdoor memorial that honors the millions of Africans who were enslaved and brought to the United States.
