The University of Rhode Island (URI) is a public research university located in Kingston, Rhode Island and is the flagship public university of the state. Founded in 1892, URI is the largest public university in the state and offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

URI is a sea-grant, land-grant, and urban-grant institution, with a total enrollment of over 17,000 students. The university offers more than 80 undergraduate majors and 90 master’s and doctoral programs. URI also offers a professional doctorate in Pharmacy and is home to the nation’s only pharmacy school to receive the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science Award.

URI's main campus is located on 1,250 acres of land overlooking Narragansett Bay. The campus is made up of several distinct areas, including the historic East Campus, the new West Campus, and the South Campus. URI also has three satellite campuses located in Providence, Narragansett, and Westerly.

URI prides itself on its commitment to research and academic excellence. The university has more than 200 research centers and institutes, and research funding continues to grow each year. URI is also known for its vibrant student life, with more than 300 student organizations and over 200 cultural, athletic, and academic events held every year.
