The Foundation for the Preservation of Captain Cook's Ships is a nonprofit organization located in Newport, Rhode Island. Its primary objective is to preserve and promote the legacy of Captain James Cook, a renowned British explorer, navigator, and cartographer who made significant contributions in the field of maritime science during the 18th century.

The foundation is focused on the preservation of two historical vessels, the HMS Endeavour and the HMS Resolution, both of which were used by Captain Cook during his voyages of discovery. The HMS Endeavour is particularly significant as it was the vessel that Cook sailed to Australia and New Zealand, where he made the first recorded European contact with many indigenous communities.

The Foundation has undertaken extensive restoration work on both ships, including the construction of replica masts and rigging. The vessels are open to the public for tours and educational programs, with a team of knowledgeable guides on hand to provide insights into the history and significance of the ships.

In addition to its preservation work, the Foundation also runs a range of educational programs and events, including lectures, workshops, and exhibitions. Its mission is to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of the maritime heritage of Captain Cook, and to encourage greater respect for the environment and cultural diversity of the regions he explored.
