REDWOOD LIBRARY

Redwood Library, located in Newport, Rhode Island, is a public library founded in 1747. It is the oldest lending library in continuous use in the United States. The library building is a two-story Palladian structure with a pedimented portico and Doric columns, considered to be one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in the country. The interior features high ceilings, fireplaces, and a mezzanine.

Redwood Library is a member of the Ocean State Libraries, a cooperative library system that provides access to millions of books and other materials to Rhode Island library patrons.
