Old Bellefield Presbyterian Church Tower, 5th Avenue and Bellefield Avenue, Oakland, Pittsburgh, PA Built in 1889, this Richardsonian Romanesque Revival-style bell tower was designed by Frederick J. Osterling to serve as the home of Bellefield Presbyterian Church. The church was housed in the building until 1967, when the congregation merged with the nearby First United Presbyterian Church, and the building was demolished, except for the corner bell tower, which remains today. The tower features a rough-hewn exterior, a crenellated parapet, gothic arched belfry openings, a corner pinnacle, corner buttresses, roman arched stained glass transoms, and decorative engaged columns. Behind this, a Postmodern-style building with a curved paneled facade and ribbon windows and recessed entrance bays stands eight stories tall, being slightly shorter than the tower. The tower is a contributing structure in the Schenley Farms Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
