Solar Eclipse 2017 - Beginning to End I really had doubts that this one was going to work out! The forecast was calling for a 60% chance of thunderstorms in Lancaster, PA. I had some trouble with thick clouds in the beginning but in the end - it all worked out. Each photo was made with a Canon 70D and a Canon 17-40 mm f/4L lens @ 36 mm. Autumn Moonrise thru the Covered Bridge Hunsecker’s Mill Bridge is a central Pennsylvania landmark and holds the record for the longest span of any covered bridge in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The wooden bridge was first built in 1848 and rebuilt in 1973 following hurricane damage. Using Stellarium and some good ole’ fashion trigonometry, the optimal time to photograph the rising full moon through the historic bridge was determined. If you look closely, you can see the familiar “V” pattern of Hyades as well as the Pleiades cluster near the top of the star field.
The Fog Bank across the Stream A fog bank is seen engulfing a flowing stream in Lancaster, PA. Two stop (-2, 0, +2) HDR processing was done using Photomatix and light processing in Photoshop Elements. I originally wanted to photograph the thin crescent moon and Venus pairing; however, the clouds and fog had other plans! Despite missing the moon, I really like the way the photo turned out. Venus can be seen to the left of the tree in the middle of the photograph.
1957 Chevrolet 210 fuelie Probably not a fuel injected 283 originally. Just noticed no V on the hood, which should indicate an originally six cylinder car. This one won't win a trophy at this Hershey show.
