The Waymart Area Historical Society (WAHS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1977 with the mission to preserve and share the history of the Waymart area in northeastern Pennsylvania. The Society serves a geographic area including Waymart, Damascus, Lake Como, Orson, and White Mills, PA.

The WAHS operates out of their headquarters in the Waymart Borough Hall. This building was originally built in 1891 as a school. The museum’s collection includes artifacts, documents, photos, and other items that represent the history of the Waymart area.

The WAHS offers a variety of programs that are open to the public, including lectures, workshops, walking and driving tours of historical sites, and an annual heritage festival. The WAHS also publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep its members informed and an annual calendar featuring local historical sites.

The WAHS is a volunteer-run organization and relies on public donations to support its activities. The WAHS is a member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Historical Societies and is affiliated with the Lackawanna Historical Society. The WAHS also works with the local school district to educate students about the region’s history.
