Western American Railroad Museum Systems Corporation (WARMS) is a non-profit organization based in Barstow, California. The mission of the organization is to preserve, promote, and interpret the history of railroading in the western United States.
Founded in 1978, WARMS has become a leader in the preservation and education of railroading in the western United States. They are dedicated to the acquisition and preservation of historic railroads, their artifacts, and their history. They also strive to provide educational programs and exhibits to the public.
WARMS owns and operates an extensive collection of historic railroad equipment, including locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars, cabooses, and other artifacts. The collection is housed in a 20,000 square foot facility in Barstow, and is open to the public on Saturdays.
In addition to the museum, WARMS also operates a railfan park, which allows visitors to explore the surrounding area by train. The park offers train rides, model railroad displays, and the opportunity to interact with real-life railroad workers.
WARMS is committed to keeping the history of railroading alive for future generations. They are dedicated to providing educational programs, research opportunities, and exhibits to the public, and to preserving the legacy of the railroads of the western United States.
