6/25/81, Conrail B23-7 1922 Conrail B23-7 1922 leads a westbound at Edinburg, PA on the P&LE main. In just over a half mile it will cross the OH-PA line into Lowellville, OH.
6-20-23, Midland & Bluegrass GP9 222 Operated as Youngstown & Southeastern Railroad. GP9 222 was built 1/58 as Illinois Central GP9 9368. To Illinois Central Gulf 9005, Mid-South Railroad 9005 then to Indiana Boxcar 222. This Midland & Bluegrass train is hauling construction waste and a couple of covered hoppers south to the landfill in Signal, OH. Here the train is about to go under the South Ave. bridge in Youngstown, OH. The grade here is steep and the three Geeps are working hard. These tracks are the the former Youngstown & Southern which were trolley tracks back in the day.

6-17-23, Historical marker, downtown Youngstown, OH Living in the suburbs I never spent much time exploring the downtown area. I wished I had but you know how that goes!
6-19-23, Hi-Speed gas station At the corner of Oak Hill Ave. and Myrtle Ave. in Youngstown, OH. The Hi-Speed stations were originally owned by Hickok Oil corporation of Toledo, OH. When Pure Oil corporation took control of Hickok on August 1, 1945 the stations became Pure Oil stations. I'm not sure when this station was built but they started building stations of this design in the mid-1920s. I never knew this building existed.

6-16-23, Ohio Central GP38-2 2159 Built 10/73 as Southern 5096. Then to N&W, NS 5096. At the Ohio Central Brier Hill shops in Youngstown, OH. With GP11 8712.
6/1/81, Conrail GP10 7566 The 7566 was working the small former Erie yard in Hubbard, OH. It was built as New York Central 5911 in 1958. Renumbered to NYC 7311 and became Penn Central 7311 in 1968. Conrail rebuilt it into a GP10 between 1976 and 1979. Upon retirement it became New England Southern 566/2566 then was sold to Black River & Western as 1856. The 7566 worked in Youngstown for a long time hauling the hot metal trains between Youngstown and Sharon, PA.
6/28/81, Ex. C&O 4-8-4 614 The Chessie Safety Express led by former C&O 4-8-4 614 leaves the New Castle yard and rolls through West Pittsburg, PA on its way to Pittsburgh.
6/25/81, Conrail westbound freight A Conrail westbound led by B23-7 1922 chugs toward the OH-PA line on 6/25/81.
