Views from the Drive to Frederick, Maryland - February 15th, 2024 Stayed in Frederick the night before our cruise.  Here are pictures from the drive along the Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpikes.  Of note are “A Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood,” at Oakmont Plum Service Plaza and the history.  It was part of Art Sparks.  Also a visit to the Midway South Plaza where they had a great exhibit on the history of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  Heading to Baltimore to take the Royal Caribbean Vision of the Seas for an eight night cruise from Baltimore, Maryland to the Southeastern United States and the Bahamas (February 16th, 2024 to February 24th, 2024).    The cruise embarks from Baltimore, Maryland with stops in Charleston, South Carolina; Port Canaveral, Florida; Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas, and Nassau, Bahamas, before returning back to Baltimore.

Old Bedford Village is a living history museum located in Bedford, Pennsylvania. The village is a reproduction of a colonial-era village, complete with authentic buildings and artifacts. Visitors can explore the village and see demonstrations of crafts and trades from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The village features more than 40 buildings, including a blacksmith shop, a schoolhouse, a church, a courthouse, and several homes. Each building is furnished with period-appropriate furnishings, tools, and household items. Many of the buildings are staffed with costumed interpreters who demonstrate traditional crafts such as spinning, weaving, and candle-making.

In addition to the buildings, the village also has a working farm with livestock and a vegetable garden. Visitors can see demonstrations of farming methods from the colonial era and learn about the importance of agriculture in early America.

Old Bedford Village hosts several special events throughout the year, including a Spring Garden Market, a Highland Games and Scottish Festival, and a Harvest Festival. The village is open seasonally from May through October and offers guided tours, educational programs, and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.
