Klamath and Western Railroad Inc, located in Chiloquin, Oregon, is a shortline railroad that operates over 65 miles of track between Chiloquin and Klamath Falls. The railroad was founded in 1983 by the Klamath and Lake Railroad Company, and was later taken over by the Klamath and Western Railroad Inc in 1989. The railroad is owned and operated by the Cascade and Siskiyou Railroad Company, a subsidiary of the Oregon and California Railroad. The Klamath and Western Railroad serves as a link between the Oregon and California Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad, and provides shortline freight services to shippers in the Klamath Basin and surrounding areas. The railroad operates four locomotives, two of which are switchers and two of which are cabooses. The railroad also operates two boxcar fleets, which are used for transportation of goods and materials. The railroad also provides storage facilities, switching services, and car repair and maintenance services. The Klamath and Western Railroad Inc is an important link in the transportation of goods and materials to and from the Klamath Basin and surrounding areas, and is an important part of the economic activity of the region.
