Fireline on the NeboFire 220926 Lightning storms on August 22 and 23, 2022 ignited the Nebo Fire 21 miles southeast of Enterprise, Oregon near Mount Nebo. The fire was burning in the upper Lick Creek drainage.

There were three lightning caused fires within the Eagle Cap Wilderness—the Nebo, Sturgill, and Goat Mountain 2 Fires. They were managed to protect public and private infrastructure, while playing a natural role within designated wilderness within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.

These fires were started by lightning in late August 2022. The Eagle Cap Wilderness Fires were managed to protect public and private infrastructure, while playing a natural role within designated wilderness.

The Sturgill Fire was 15 miles southwest of Enterprise, Oregon near the intersection Minam and North Minam Rivers. The Goat Mountain 2 Fire was 9 miles south of Lostine, Oregon and the Nebo Fire was 21 miles southeast of Enterprise, Oregon near Mount Nebo.

The Sturgill, Nebo and Goat Mountain 2 Fires burned 23,507, 12,609 and 584 acres, respectively, as reported October 26, 2022.
