Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway (FOHCRH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring the original Columbia River Highway (CRH) between Troutdale, Oregon and The Dalles, Oregon. The CRH is a historic scenic highway, built in the early 1900s, known for its many breathtaking views of the Columbia River Gorge.

FOHCRH was founded in 2004 and is made up of volunteers from the local community and beyond. The organization works to protect and preserve the historic landscape along the CRH, including its historic stone bridges, historic features, and scenic vistas. FOHCRH works with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure the preservation and restoration of the CRH.

FOHCRH also organizes events to help raise funds and awareness for their cause. These events include guided tours, bike rides, hikes, and activities such as interpretive talks and displays of historic artifacts. The organization also hosts annual events such as the Columbia River Highway Centennial Celebration and the Historic Columbia River Highway Conference.

FOHCRH has been successful in its efforts to preserve the historic CRH and to bring awareness to the importance of preserving our historic highway resources.

For years, the trail system has been part of multiple advocacy efforts by local groups to work with management agencies to improve recreation opportunities in the area. The most recent of those efforts, coordinated by Washington Trails Association, has spanned 3 years and the result is a brand-new vision plan that will guide management here for years to come.
