Red Earth is an annual Native American cultural festival held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The festival began in 1987 and has since grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious Native American cultural events in the country. The festival is typically held over a three-day weekend in late June and features a variety of activities and events.
The festival is held at several different venues throughout downtown Oklahoma City, including the Cox Convention Center and the Myriad Botanical Gardens. Activities and events at the festival include traditional Native American dances, music, storytelling, and art exhibitions. There are also a variety of food vendors offering traditional Native American cuisine, as well as arts and crafts vendors selling handmade items.
One of the highlights of the festival is the Grand Entry Parade, which takes place on Saturday evening. During the parade, participants from more than 100 tribes across the country dress in their traditional regalia and march through downtown Oklahoma City in a colorful and lively display of Native American culture.
Red Earth is a celebration of Native American culture and heritage, and is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. The festival provides an opportunity for people to learn about and appreciate the rich traditions and history of Native American communities across the country.
