Oasis Motel - Route 66 - Tulsa, OK I wish I had a chance to see this one before dusk. It is located along the 11th St. alignment or Route 66 through Tulsa.

Catoosa, OK Train Station This replica train depot, with a Frisco caboose and a replica post office make the Catoosa Historical Museum. The actual tracks are less that 1000ft. away and I heard trains going by while I was here.

This museum is also located along the Cherokee St. alignment of Route 66.

Desert Hills Motel neon sign - Tulsa, OK My Wife and I stayed at this vintage Route 66 Motel on our road trip last summer.

The Motel has retained some vintage features of a high end motel from back in the day - the walls facing the parking lot are zig-zagged or accordion-style for a memorable look. The bathroom had heated floors, which was very nice.

The room itself was practically a museum - our room had a vintage black-and-white TV, a rotary telephone and typewriter.

There were also modern amenities like a modern flat screen TV and a mini-fridge of retro design.

The owner was nice. I asked if he sold post cards and he gave me one for free.

the con of staying here:

It's in a questionable neighborhood, and priced cheaper than the dependable chain motels. Thus the clientele was a mix of tourists and riff raff. The young couple in the next room drove a 60's station wagon, but there was a guy across the way who was yelling and cussing at me while I took this sign. Despite that, I'm glad I stayed here.

Catoosa, OK Post Office Replica This replica of Catoosa's first post office is located at the Catoosa Historical Society museum. This museum is located along the Cherokee St. alignment of Route 66 and includes a replica train depot and caboose. The replica post office opened in 2020 and is dedicated to long time society president Georgia McAfee.

Pinion Mfg & Supply Co - Tulsa, OK This is the neon sign for Pinion Manufacturing and Supply Co. in Tulsa. The sign dates back to a time when the 7 digit phone number started with two letters (Early 50s or older, I think). This was located along the Admiral Pl. alignment of Route 66 through Tulsa.
