AKRON ZOOLOGICAL PARK

Akron Zoological Park, located in Akron, Ohio, is a family-friendly zoo that has been in operation since 1953. It is one of the few zoos in the United States that is owned by a nonprofit organization, the Akron Zoological Society. The 32-acre park is home to over 700 animals from around the world, including 175 species.

The zoo's main attractions are the African Elephant Crossing, the Primate, Cat & Aquatics Building, the Komodo Kingdom, and the Jake Sroufe North American Wilderness Trek. The African Elephant Crossing houses a herd of African elephants, and is home to the world's first elephant drive-thru. The Primate, Cat & Aquatics Building is home to a variety of primates, including gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans, as well as cats and aquatic animals. The Komodo Kingdom features Komodo dragons, the world's largest lizards. The Jake Sroufe North American Wilderness Trek is a 2.1 mile walking trail that showcases North American wildlife and landscapes.

In addition to its animal exhibits, the Akron Zoological Park also offers a variety of educational and recreational activities, such as the WildPlay Tree Tops adventure area, camps, and educational programs. The zoo also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, including the Zoo-Tastic Summer Concert Series, Boo at the Zoo, and the Wild Winter Lights.

The Akron Zoological Park is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and is dedicated to conservation, education, and animal welfare. It is open year-round, and provides a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages.
