OLIN'S COVERED BRIDGE

Olin's Covered Bridge is a historic wooden bridge located in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Built in 1873, it spans the Ashtabula River and is one of the oldest covered bridges in the state. The bridge was constructed using the Howe truss design and is 110 feet long. It is made of timber and has a red painted exterior.

The bridge was originally built to provide a crossing for the local residents and farmers who relied on the river for transportation and commerce. It was named after the Olin family who owned a nearby sawmill and provided the timber for the construction of the bridge. Over the years, the bridge was repaired and maintained by the county until it was closed to vehicular traffic in 1970 due to its deteriorating condition.

In 1983, the Ashtabula County Commissioners purchased the bridge and began a restoration project to preserve its history and beauty. The bridge was reopened to pedestrian traffic in 1985 and has since become a popular tourist attraction in the area. Visitors can walk across the bridge and enjoy the scenic views of the river and surrounding countryside.
