Lorain County Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Elyria, Ohio that is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Lorain County. Founded in 1938, the Society operates several historic sites, including the Hickories Museum, the Lorain County Pioneer Village, and the Columbia Township Historical Museum.
The Hickories Museum is a restored 1895 mansion that showcases the lifestyle of the wealthy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum features period furnishings, artwork, and decorative arts. The Lorain County Pioneer Village is a living history museum that recreates life in a 19th-century Ohio village, including a one-room schoolhouse, a general store, and log cabins.
The Columbia Township Historical Museum is housed in a former post office and features exhibits on the history of the community. The Society also operates a research library and archives that contain a wealth of information about Lorain County's history.
